Want to watch same program on multiple tv's

How do I get the same program to play on two tv's?  It did it once by accident, but I can't reproduce.

Thanks.

Do you mean you have two sets of STB/TV & you want to tune them both to the same channel.

Yes, you can do that, but it is unlikely that they will be exactly in synch. It could happen by accident, but the odds are against you.

If you want to have two TVs playing the same program, in synch, you need to connect both to the same STB. YOu can use the different outputs of the STB, but it may be problematic to mix HDMI  & another. If you want to use HDMI use a splitter - https://sewelldirect.com/Sewell-HDMI-1x2-Splitter-v13b.asp?ad_source=GoogleAdWords&ad_medium=PPC&ad_term=HDMI%20+splitter&ad_campaign=53983803&ad_group=2074889043&ad_network=search&ad_creative=7153161963&gclid=CKe_ir2ii6gCFUiK4AoduEbyCQ

You can turn the sound down on one if the TVs are close together, otherwise the sound will echo from one to another.  Didn't have that problem with Charter Communications.

You be able to sync the sound on 2 TV's tuned to the same channel as follows:

1. Tune both TV's to the same channel.

2. Go back to the first TV and move TV from the desired channel then then back to the channel.

The auto should now be in sync on both TV's.

Tried it many, many times and it rarely works. Have to go through the whole process again when you decide to change channels.  It's less aggravating to mute one TV.

Those steps always work for me.

Just out of curiosity, why do you always have multiple TV's tuned to the same channel?

If one TV is a Genie and the other is a mini Genie do this.

Find a SPOT to stand where both remotes work. If you can't do this how can you hear both TV's at the same time and what is the problem?

Then set both TVs to full forward till you are real time.

Pause the Genie TV then 1 or 2 seconds pause the Mini Genie TV.  Now the Genie TV is behind the Mini Genie TV

Look at the picture on the Mini Genie TV. You can move now.

Tap the play button on the Genie TV so it moves slightly FWD then repause's numerous times till the pictures are EXACTLY the same.

Go back to the SPOT and hit play on both remotes at the same time.

"Presto"  you did it.

If this is too hard then hopefully when you are 70 as I am you can develop your technical skills.  I can't figgure out how so many of all of you had so much of a problem with this for such a long time.   (to misquote Churchill)

What's a Genie?

Don't mess with old people.  The older we get, the less "Life in Prison" is a deterrent.

So any talk about how a "Genie" works is irrelevant?

You never know, the new Home Media Gateway coming out after the 1st of the year will be built on DirecTV architecture, so it might.  It's really their version of whole house receiver.

But HMG is suppossed to do all routing, access and storage, eliminating DVR/STBs in a single CPE environment.  It's suggested everything will be from the cloud, due to "very thin hardware profiles". Smiley Surprised

So are you saying that VDSL-based TV is being phased out?

During a post-merger advisory presentation, AT&T indicated that they were moving towards a new common-platform for both U-verse TV and DIRECTV Satellite.  The diagrams made it appear that the platform can receive content from many sources, including Satellite, U-verse VDSL2 and/or Fiber delivery.

You will rarely get sound to sync up exactly; it's the nature of digital compression.  Faster receivers/TVs/DVRs can decompress the stream faster than others.  Just go to a Target store where they have the sound up on all of the TVs in electronics--every one will be a split second off.
