Welp….I pulled the plug
Hello from the past! Some of you might remember me from years gone by as I was active on the UverseTV board back in the day when there WAS an active Uverse TV board.
I stuck it out as long as I could and swore they’d have to pry that UverseTV remote out of my cold dead hands but alas, the costs said otherwise. I took the leap to DirecTV streaming and while there is a learning curve (guide, DVR, recordings) I’m liking it way more than I thought I would. And the price difference is the cherry on top!
I keep telling myself that I was a Uverse TV customer for 18 years (!) so it’s going to take awhile to get acclimated to something different, but so far, so good. 😝😝😝
Don't mess with old people. The older we get, the less "Life in Prison" is a deterrent.

Thanks for posting Skeeter. I'm on the fence whether to go DIRECTV stream or just pick up ESPN Unlimited. If ESPN's client app didn't stink and they had a viable way to ensure I could watch everything after it airs, it wouldn't be a decision.

My UverseTV was getting out of control. Minimal discounts even for long time customers. I stream a lot anyway (ie. Netflix, AppleTV, Hulu, etc.) so the transition was pretty easy. 😉

When the AT&T forums went under, Dmitriy was able to extend my $60/mo credit for a bit longer. That expired in January and they could only renew it at $20/mo.
The thing I don't like about streaming is the DVR that automatically deletes stuff. I guess the flip side is the series record where you don't have to worry about running out of space. If it's a show that reairs a lot of old episodes, there's always a chance that particular episode comes back around.
The fact that someone could watch recorded shows on their mobile devices is also a win.
The only channels I'm really lacking are the Pittsburgh RSN and Reelz. NASA TV is a sore one for me because everyone should have that on a basic tier, but AT&T bumped it to 300 a while back.
The Pittsburgh RSN would be nice, but it's not essential.
Reelz is on Peacock and it has their own app for $50/yr or something, so I'm good there.
I lucked into a few promos of Paramount+, so my Showtime is something like $75 total for three years.
It's sort of a hodge-podge of U-200+HD plus various apps for me.
Edit: I got a sweetheart deal to upgrade to U-300. After I did, I remembered/realized that NASA TV was pulled from all providers and is only on YouTube...and free.
I do like how U-Verse allows me to change channels in under three seconds because of the channel numbers. I'd need the DirecTV device if I went that way.
I saw a unsubstantiated Reddit post that suggested U-Verse is officially being sunset late this year, but we'll see.
The other piece of the puzzle is HBO Max. Since I get that via Internet 1000, I'm not switching my Internet plan until that goes away...but we'll see what happens with this Paramount merger.

If I had a nickel for every time I heard that one, I could pay for a month of Peacock.

A bit after mine ran out, I got on Chat, I think (first mistake) and somebody changed things around, including adjusting my Internet, to allegedly give me $10 off. While he was spouting things off, it didn't add up, but... I let it go.
Got the bill, when he changed my Internet, he put me on a plan with an equipment charge. The net was $5 HIGHER than I had been paying before I started with him. So, to the Office of the President I went. Got the price back down to about what it had been with the earlier discount, but only with temporary and package discounts where I had better PRICING before. I'm still (Edited per community guidelines) at the original (Edited per community guidelines). Anyway, that runs out this summer. I don't expect to be on U-verse TV when that happens.

I was able to put some pieces together and I highly suspect the AT&T kiosk employees (as we know, third-party agents) were saying "AT&T is shutting down U-Verse" as far back as 2017/2018.
Someone I know said they "heard from an employee" what I wrote above. We're almost a decade past that point and there's still no sign of it actually happening.

Are you on Facebook? Contact the official AT&T page. They just worked wonders for me. (Renewed my $60/mo off for a year for TV and $20/mo off for Internet 1000.)
I assume the same is possible via Twitter and/or Reddit or whatever else.
Edit: They had to go into a meeting (or so they said) and they lowered my price from their original offer while upgrading to U-300!

Do you get Disney+ with that? You can watch the majority of ESPN content there and it also has a lot of archived ESPN shows.
It seems the only reason why someone would need the ESPN app would be in the rare case Disney+ doesn't have that niche sport.
I've also found D+ easier to navigate although that's obviously my opinion.

DirecTV streaming includes Disney+, Hulu & Paramount+. There’s a bunch of sports offerings (ESPN?) but that means nothing to me.
I’m getting a $94 a month discount for 24 months. So between DTVS being cheaper than UV, and the discounts I got by signing up online, I’m saving well over $100 a month. Plus I cancelled my D+/Hulu subscription which was $15 (?) a month.
