Why Al Jazeera ?

Why is U-verse carrying Al Jazeera ? Are part of my monthly fees supporting this garbage ? If you watch it , you will understand their hidden addgenda if you have an IQ above a turnip.

One can only hope at&t will get rid of the E channel ... glamorizing the disgusting kardashians is an insult to Americans.

If I recall Petticoat Junction was a Beverly Hillbillies spinoff.

Actually Green Acres was a spin off of Petticoat Junction. Later on they said the Clampetts Bugtussle was near Hooterville and the characters from Beverly Hillbillies visited the Shady Rest.

Correct, BH was self survival rural folks move to upscale society where the expectation is you pay to be provided for going against the grain of DIY.

As Green Acres is after the JFK assination, an excalting Vietnam war and continuing cold war with Super Power USSR the ideal of leaving the specialist center of the world work environment (Manhattan) and returning to a self sustaining lifestyle (simpler times) is the driving force.

I would say from today's perspective Mr Douglas was desiring to become a prepper, trying to acquire the skill sets necessary for survival while beset with a spouse not on board with the plan.

I've never heard those programs described that way but you have given me new perspective on what I thought was just hokey/fun (and innocent) sitcoms.

Don't mess with old people.  The older we get, the less "Life in Prison" is a deterrent.

Arnold is gone. We had to eat him because the miserly pension I receive forced us to eat our child.

Hi @fredziffel, please use the Quote button as your one line replies don't reference who you are talking to, and aren't too clear. 😉

Have you actually watched Al Jazeera America (which, I'm sure that you know, is totally seperate from Al Jazeera)?  I find that they do not have a slant.  It's pretty much unbiased.  I'm a conservative Republican but can only take so much Fox News as they have to put a spin on every story - even if it is on a Lemonade stand.  Then there is the CNN, ABC and so on, "Liberal" media.  Yecch!

I'm wishing that U-Verse carries Sky News also - another fairly unbiased outfit.

I would drop U-verse immediately if U-verse were to bow down to your demands.  No provider should let only a few subscribers dictate what they should and shouldn't carry.

I watch Al Jazeera America because it covers news the U.S.-based corporate media doesn't.  I also watch BBC World News, which isn't perfect, but a lot better than watching CNN, CBS, NBC, ABC and so forth.

In fact, I did drop U-verse in January 2014 since signing on with the service in November 2009 in favor of Time Warner because Time Warner carried Al Jazeera America and BBC World News while U-verse did not at the time.  Shortly afterwards, U-verse carried both networks and I returned to U-verse in December 2014.

I agree,

No slant with Al Jazeera.  They go more in depth with mid-east news.

Isn't Sky News run by Rupert Murdoch?

Al Jazeera gets 29,000 viewers in Prime Time.  No one wants to watch yet another left wing news channel.  It has horrible ratings and should be dropped for that reason.  Is Uverse really paying for that channel?
