Why are all of the baseball games blacked out on MLB / FSN 1737? I signed up and paid extra money to see the Detroit Tigers and five out of five games have been blacked out.

Hi Kathy,
Click on the below link which explains the reason for black-out.
Game blacked out
You can try to find out an alternate channel airing the same games. Please check the link which provides an option to check for the alternate channel. Hope this will be useful and answers your question.

The information from the link that San Joy posted about blackouts is correct. Unfortunately, we have no control over it and it is controlled by the Network, in this case, FSD (Fox Sports Detroit). They have informed us:
It is against league rules to broadcast outside of the FS Detroit regional footprint.
So unfortunately, for all companies, unless they are part of the regional area that FS Detroit has set up, they will not receive the games.
The only way I know of catching most of the Detroit Tigers game is to subscribe to MLB Extra Innings. I hope this answers your question, and if there is anything I can do, let us know.

Thanks for the info. I did exactly what Kathy did, for same team even! Here's what I want to know.... How, if DavidC S knew the answer to this, did the customer service people who agreed to add these channels - and add the additional charges - not know?? Why, when I asked for FSD to watch my Tigers, was I not informed that the games would be blacked out in my area? Is it because DavicC S is more informed? Or did you just reserach this when you got Kathy's message?
So..... should the AT&T rep who sold me the package have known I wouldn't get what I wanted? And should AT&T refund me the money? I ask this simply as a point of discussion. It did't cost all that much and I am far more disappointed about not seeing the Tigers than I am about the money...

The reps you call on the phone are clueless about much of the Uverse channel/team choices are. Most will say yes just to placate you.
David, on the otherhand, is a Community Specialist (as are Morgan and Sadath) from the get social website, merged w/the ATT Community. They have much more knowledge and abililty to get things done than any of the phone reps.
If you'd come here first you'd have found out about the blackout rules for out of markets games. 😉

Your Results May Vary, In My Humble Opinion

You need to get MLB.TV. You can view your favorite team's games. The exception is when the game on a local broadcast channel or is a national broadcast, ESPN, FSN, FOX, etc.
As a Yankees fan living in Florida I only get the Marlins and Rays games on FS/FSN Florida. I am not a fan of either. MLB.TV lets me watch most games except when they play the Rays. And yes, I am suffering thru this season. Hopefully the Yankees can play a spoiler.
I stream the games from the computer to a big screen TV. You should check it out!

I had MLB TV so I could watch the Cardinals games. Had it for 4 years and then at the end of last season they blacked out all of the game. Talk to DIRECTV and got the usually it's MLB fault. I never had a game backed out in 3 1/2 years, so why now?

@CPOJohn
Depends on the specific game. If it is in-market, then you can only watch it on your RSN, not the MLB Extra Innings. However if a specific local gets the rights to a game, then you cannot watch that on the RSN. Weekend games have special rights sold to Fox and ESPN. And fairly new, MLB sold off the rights to some games to Apple TV.
In any case, this thread is for U-Verse (As AT&T migrated all TV services over, including separating the forums, with selling them off) and from over a decade ago (2013). If you need further guidance, please start a new thread in the correct section.
