WSB tv (ABC)

What is going on with the renewal of WSB channel 2 in Atlanta, also ABC. I understand we may lose this channel in a day or so, I sincerly hope this is resolved. I want to keep this channel as a part of my programming package. This is my primary local and World news channel. I hope this is resolved.

CBS channels 47 & 1047 have most of the best shows on TV.  I chose to stay with ATT Uverse mainly because of those channels and the Hallmark channels in July.  If channels 47 and 1047 are not available for an extended period, I will definitely terminate my contract as soon as it ends.  There are other companies available.

That is not what our local channel is telling us.

I know that's right. I'm going to dump this gig. I can get taken by someone else at half the cost.

I'm from Kansas City, MO and we lost our ABC network channel.  This is ridiculous.  How can AT&T not come to some agreement with ABC.  This isn't some random network, ABC is a major network.  It is disingenious for AT&T to not give any warning to its customers that we would be losing a major network.  We all pay a handsome price for the service and this is how you treat your customers.  Are all of your customers going to get a huge credit towards our bill since we're paying for a service we are not receiving.  Shame on you AT&T.

Here's the CBS station's side of the story.

I have a feeling AT&T's version is similar, except that it is the CBS station (the same company owns the Fox station, I think) that is being unreasonable.

Don't think that only AT&T has these problems; pretty much every Charter Cable subscriber in the country almost lost all of the NBC Universal networks (not just the NBC stations, but things like USA as well) over a similar money dispute.

Before you consider switching from U-Verse, ask yourself this: why did you switch to U-Verse in the first place, and has that reason changed, or if it has not, is the (presumably brief) loss of CBS and Fox worth switching back?  I say "presumably" as I remember a cable company just north of San Francisco losing the local ABC station for something like eight months, although that was over carrying stations (in this case, ABC demanded that the company carry ESPN2, back when it was a "minor" channel, despite the fact that the company would have to drop another network to make room for it) rather than paying fees), and ABC did allow the company to air the Oscars as well as a 49ers Monday Night Football game.

Also do not forget Comcast lost CBS along with Showtime for Almost a month.  When AT&T had the dispute with WSB in atlanta we lost the station for only 18 hours.  The dispute was resolved before prime time.  So do not get mad and jump ship because the dispute may be resolved before you can get a new service installed.
As far as local stations I have an antenna that I connect when disputes with the local stations.  Once the local station is back on the air I put the antenna back in the closet.

We already pay the taxes for the public airwaves.  I get tired of being double and triple charged for things I already pay for via my tax dollars.  We've lost our local CBS affiliate with this "contract negotation".  I say they can keep it, someone else will get my viewing time.  Let my local broadcast explain the dip in numbers to CBS and their advertisers for refusing to negotiate and having their hand out to increase their margin on my back with an additional "tax" when I'm already taking care of their airwaves.  I'll leave AT&T based on a cheaper overall rate for comparable service, not over local channel issues.

Well said on who deserves lots of the credit for this issue. (The corp owner of all the local stations throughout the country that's betting they can get lots more money)

For those ready to dump ATT for this, good luck with alternatives like Comcrap and others. The grass is not greener elsewhere.

In Jacksonville, the Fox station came back the other day but the other local CBS station is still off. (Same Corp owner for both)
The fees being asked by the CBS station must be significantly higher.

Until their prices go up when your new subscriber discounts end.

So putting notices in your bill isn't enough warning? Notices are also posted in USA Today and at http://programmingnotices.att.com as well as on this forum.

How much longer are we gonna have to miss our programs on 47? 47 isnt a channel you can watch on demand, and cat view on line because internet is AT&T too. Its crazy. But still being billed for them.
