Directv Pricing

Why is Directv not trying to offer competitive pricing? I have been a customer for 14 years and just received notice that my monthly bill, with no premium channels, will be $213.  Essentially the same channels and service is available from Dish for $137, with a $300 prepaid card for switching.

I am aware of the length of the contract. I will be saving $80 per month for 24 months, which is over $1900.  In addition, I get the $300 prepaid card, for a total savings of $2200, which does not include the likely DIRECTV price hike next year
