Directv Pricing
Why is Directv not trying to offer competitive pricing? I have been a customer for 14 years and just received notice that my monthly bill, with no premium channels, will be $213. Essentially the same channels and service is available from Dish for $137, with a $300 prepaid card for switching. I called Directv to express my disappointment and was told my only option for a less expensive bill was to change my package and drop the protection plan. Doing that still kept the cost $30 per month more than Dish. I am cancelling and switching to Dish.

Good luck with your new service. Hopefully, you have no issues with your service as you will most likely be under a contract for 2 years. But just be warned your price will go up after your promotional period and will most likely be about the same price that you are paying now.

I am aware of the length of the contract. I will be saving $80 per month for 24 months, which is over $1900. In addition, I get the $300 prepaid card, for a total savings of $2200, which does not include the likely DIRECTV price hike next year. $213 a month is around 10% of my social security income and is just not sustainable. At some point, I will probably be priced out of the tv market.

The ongoing issue. Cost of services and living go up but not so much our revenue to cover it. Same to TV providers. Their operating costs go up so they have to do so for the bills. As such not much in discounts can be provided to us long term customers. So we go where it best fits us in the free market.

How dare DIRECTV Stream....You can't keep a contract with Disney but you can increase my rates by $8 a month. Shame on you. Just a poorly operated company. I'm looking at my options as to other streaming services because I agree with terryfondow...my fixed retirement income doesn't fit in with their charges.

@LKdirectforum You have to do what is best for you. But just remember that all TV providers go through these negotiations and also raise their rates.
