Error 775

I periodically get the Error 775 message informing me that my system is having trouble communicating with the satellite. But... there's nothing wrong with the picture (if I back up a few seconds, the video briefly returns) and the audio plays in the background while I stare at a message telling me that the receiver can't communicate with the satellite. Resetting the receiver fixes the problem, but... kills whatever I'm watching and recording at the time. And, again, the picture and audio are perfect. Since there is no error, I sure would like to stop this message from appearing ever, let alone fairly often.

No, it's a real error. Looks like a problem with the cable between the power inserter and the dish, you are getting random power losses. Check the cable and the connectors at the power inserter and the dish.If it's not that, it could be a fault in the LNB at the dish or in the power inserter itself. If you don't find a cable/connector problem, you should get a service visit from directv. You can't stop the message without fixing the fault.

So... Is this scenario a possibility? I get some random power loss, which I don't notice, that triggers an error message. The error message remains (even though the incident was transient) until I reset the receiver. Is that what's going on?

I would Suggest -you check your outside RG6 Connections for (water) or weather Damage --it can be caused by temp changes making the damaged (stinger) Swell or shrink Cause your signal loss
