Genie Remote RC73
I was able to program the Genie Remote with my Vizio TV. However it can only work with the volumes and change channels, I cannot use the on and off options to turn on or turn off the TV. When I press the OFF button, the DirecTV receive went off but my TV stayed on with a blue screen. It won't go off. I can use the original DirecTV Universal TV to turn on or off the TV though.
I have called DirecTV tech help and they don't know why it won't work. The Genie remote works with other TV (LG) but not with my Vizio.
Any suggestions/comments will be much appreciated.

What is the receiver model? What model is the Vizio? Have you went to Menu, Settings, Remote Setup, Program Remote, TV, and chosen Vizio? The setup process MAY automatically program the remote for you OR you may be instructed to enter a few codes and follow steps until one works properly. Be sure to keep trying codes until one works properly to control POWER, VOLUME, and INPUT change together. This can definitely be time consuming.

I don't know the model of the receiver as I am not home at this time. The Vizio model is Vizio GV47L. The remote I have is a brand new one as my old one was broken. The old one was able to turn on and off the TV but the new one wouldn't . I know the remote is programmed correctly since I can use it to control the volumes of the TV, it just cannot turn it on and off. When I entered my TV model, it automatically chose the code for me and there's only one, and it asked me to test the vol+ and it worked, but the POWER won't work. When I pressed the OFF button, it turned off the receiver and my TV screen remained blue and won't go off.

PS: I have three other TVs in the house (not Vizio though) and the POWER buttons do work on them with the Genie RC73.

Hello DIRECTVhelp,
Please see my reply to detuch254. I am very familiar with how to program the remote control as I have done that numerous of times. For some reason, my remote control just couldn't recognize my Vizio TV. I programmed it with my LG TV and the POWER buttons worked, but when I programmed it with Vizio, it wouldn't, when I pressed the OFF button, it turned off the receiver and my TV screen remained blue and won't go off.
