New TCL 65R635 Roku TV with 4K Geni Mini C61K when Paused goes to black, vertical & horizontal snow pops up & black again then screensaver

Huge issues. When watching apps on the new TCL Roku TV -- it's seemless. No issues with pausing program. It stays on screen.  When watching with satellite HDMI (Ultra HDMI cable), when pausing, it goes to black, then vertical snow pops up, then horizontal snow pops up, then black, then to screensaver. This is going to ruin the TV if I keep doing this. Is there a setting on DirecTV receiver 4K Genie Mini C61K-700. It's only when watching satellite tv, never on streaming or connected apple tv. I have the Genie 2 Model HS17-500.  When I plug in the Gemini Model C71KW-400 (use for another non 4K TV), it does not do this, but the quality of TV is degraded -- not vivid. The TCL is mini-LED QLED 4K 120HZ refresh, etc. Brand new. I bought two same TVs and it's plugged into the Genie Mini and it's happening on both TVs. 

How do I get it to stop searching for the screensaver resolution. DirecTV tech said it's trying to find the resolution. TCL states it will ruin the TV is it keeps doing this.
