one of three tv’s is turning on by itself, but no picture, just sound.

All three genies have already been reset, unplugged and plugged back in. The problem is the same. This started yesterday. The sound is loud, but since remote won’t work now (batteries have been replaced) can’t turn down. I recall a short time ago seeing a pop up that said software update. It started acting strange shortly after that. The remote buttons needed to be pushed more than once, like to pause or unpause. I don’t know what else to do it, but it’s quite annoying. Appreciate some help.

Thank you,

Diane Stockton

Try this -Use your remote --Menu-Search-(TYPE) CLEARMYBOX -Search -the search all -Your receiver will reboot and reload the software --It will take 24 to 48 hours for the complete guide and VOD to fully return.

the remote isn’t working either, so can’t check with remote. It will turn tv on and off, but even if you turn it off, the sound, although broken up, comes back on. No picture.

Hi @stockdls, let's work on a fix, so you can enjoy the service without any issue.

Let's start with some steps to get a solution. Regarding your receiver, check the following link to Reset your DIRECTV receiver, also check the steps to fix your remote control

Please let me know the results. I'll be here to help.

Is your tv on the correct input?

My remote won’t work…is there another way to tell? It turns the tv on and off, but no picture, just broken up sound. I already put new batteries in it.

Do you have your tv remote? Also when you initially turn the tv on it will show the input in the corner like "HDMI 1"

I understand that you're getting issues with you remote, that's why I want to give you a hand getting this fixed. In this case I recommend you to get a new remote, so please follow the steps about how to get a replacement for your remote

Let me know if you have any question.

As far as the DirecTV remote if it's a genie remote the input button is under the number 9

when you turn it on, there is sound, but NO picture, so I can’t see what the input is. I know the input button is under the 9…but my screen is just dark.

@stockdls it sounds like the TV screen brightness is low. You’ll need to somehow get to Settings and bring the brightness up. Once you fix the brightness, assure that the Genie mini shows up on one of the HDMI inputs. To clarify, check the back of the TV and see which HDMI terminal is plugged into the back of the Genie Mini client. (i.e. HDMI1). If you still have issues, tell me the Genie mini client receiver model and the remote model.

Perform a red button reset (right side) as well as a CLEARMYBOX.
