OTA Antenna

I am thinking of installing a OTA Antenna I have tried multiple in the basement and none work... Basiclly i want this for when there is really bad weather and I lose signal. When i had Directv a long long time ago we had a antenna that mounted to the dish using diplexers. I now have a HD setup with a SWM dish and a 8 way swm splitter in the basment. One wire comes into the house from the dish... Is there a way i can get a antenna and mount it to the pole of the dish or similar for better reception using diplexers or am i hosed when it come to weather??

you def  install your antenna, but it needs a dedicated cable to the TV.  you can't use diplexers to combine both signals.
