Program RC73B remote to Samsung TV

I recently switched to DirecTV. The technician programmed a remote to each of my televisions. I decided to purchase an extra remote for my living room. I chose the RC73B remote since it had the button to light up the key pad. I got the remote paired to my receiver and also programmed it to my Samsung TV. Everything went fine but I noticed that the two remotes that the technician programmed would turn the televisions On and Off by using the On button. Using the On button to turn off the television would leave the receiver on. I liked this because I can turn on the television and rewind the program if there was a game on I wanted to see something that had happened. The remote I programmed will not do this. Only the Off button will turn off the television which also turns off the receiver. I would like to know if it is possible to program the RC73B remote to turn the television both On and Off like the RC73 remotes that the technician programmed. Any assistance will be appreciated.
