recording (or not)
Some things in the list of recordings are not actually recordings and you have to stream them to watch, if you are in a rural area which is why you have direct tv, and spotty internet for the same reason you can't stream. so the episodes that " record " this way are unwatchable. is there any setting or way to make it only record rather than just marking it for streaming later???

If you record a show airing from the Guide it should automatically only record shows airing on satellite. It shouldn’t be giving you recordings available on-demand. How exactly did you schedule this recordings? Did you go to the Guide and double click the ‘R’ button to ensure that the series records? What is the receiver model?

I set everything to record series by double clicking on the guide, that is the frustrating part. I don't know the model number off hand, I have had directv since march and this issue pops up now and again
