The remote is a RC64. When you hit any button button it asks on the monitor if you want to program the remote to work a device. When you select TV, it asks you to select the manufacturer and gives you a list of 150. Vizio is not one of them.

Have you tried to reset your controland pair it again? These steps might help you to use your TV with our DIRECTV remote control:
1. Press and hold MUTE and SELECT together until the light flashes three times.
2. Press 9, 8, 1 and SELECT. The remote flashes four times and should now reset.
After that, you can pair/program your remote control once again:
1. Press MENU on the remote. 2. Arrow down to Settings and press SELECT. 3. Go to Remote Control and press SELECT. 4. Select Pair/Program Remote. Depending on your setup, this may be automatic, or you may have to enter codes into your remote. Use thecode lookup tool to find the 5-digit code.

My DirecTV remote (RC66) controls our Vizio TV just fine.

That's an older remote. The RC65/66 remotes have more TV codes.
