Cancellation Fee For Direct TV Stream

I'm very confused by the search results on this site. I entered "cancellation fee" to confirm there is none for Direct TV Stream. The first links I get mention a 2 year agreement for Direct TV Stream and cancellation fees in $300 range for it. I'm confused. Please clarify before I decide on Fubo.

I think you got results for DirecTV Satellite subscriptions. There is no cancellation fee for DirecTV Stream.  But you may owe some money if you have one or more of their DirecTV Stream boxes.

@duras23 AT&T TV (which is what the DirecTV Stream service was called back when AT&T owned it) originally required a 2 year contract, and more recently offered that as an option (with some promotional benefits to maybe make it worthwhile to make a 2 year commitment).  From all appearances, it is no longer possible to get a contract.  Early termination fees only applied to those that had a contract - everyone else is on month-to-month subscriptions and can cancel anytime without penalty.

And the list of supported streaming devices is here.  I've used most of those with good results.  (There are reports that the app for Samsung TVs has problems, but I don't have personal experience with it.)  The DirecTV Stream device is a streamer that is customized for the service.  It offers some advantages - it starts directly in the service, has a cable-ish remote allowing direct entry of channel numbers (none of the other devices do), has some level of voice control, etc.  On the other hand, it is relatively expensive compared to some of the others, it supports fewer other streaming apps than the other streamers, and it seems somewhat more prone to glitchy behavior.  Whether it is worthwhile may depend on how comfortable you are with navigating the channels using the program guide or search rather than channel numbers.

Just go with Fubo. Direct TV stream is a scam, they will lure you in with heavily discounted rates in the first month(s), but you will need to pay $400 to end the 'contract' you somehow signed.....Its streaming, why is there a 24 month contract? Stay away.
