Direct stream via gemini and cant get local channels?
I am trying to connect a TV through the Gemini device and I can't get it to recognize my location. It connects but gives me my local channels from Florida when I am in NY. I made sure it was connected to my wifi and device is using that for location but it still doesn't work. Any ideas?

Are you located at your home base?
Local channels are derived from a combination of a customer billing zip code and IP address. Essentially, the IP address a customer is assigned must match their billing zip code to receive the local channels available in that area. Your ISP determines the IP address that is assigned to your location.

I am in NY. My home and billing zip is in Fl but I was told that a gemini device could determine the location you are at and provide local channels based upon that

I've tried everything. Was on phone with support for over 2 hours and they are stumped as well. They said they would call me back in 1-2 hours after researching the issue. Figured I would try here as there seems to be a lot of knowledgeable people here

You do have location services on, correct?
Another thing you can try is to connect to your phone as a test. Turn on hotspot on your phone. Then connect your streaming device to the hotspot. See if you get the correct locals.

You got it right, @bcbsncjlj. Local channel availability is based on your billing ZIP Code and market area. We're sorry that you can't get your local channels in NY and for being on the phone with the support for over 2 hours, @MB_user1. If your Guide isn’t showing the right local channels, please try to set new home location on your Gemini device using the following steps below:
-Go to the DIRECTV app.
-Choose Settings and then Preferences.
-Select Location Settings and then Set New Home Location.
-Choose your new location.
You can visit https://www.directv.com/support/article/000082029 for more info. DIRECTV appreciates you patience. Elton, DIRECTV Community Specialist

So I did a full reset (held red button for 20 seconds) and then connected again to my wifi. The location reset to my current location and local channels appeared. They were there for approx 5 min. and then the screen went blank, came back on, and my location was reset to Fl.

Do you get the NY locals on your phone using the app? If so, have you tried testing your device using the hotspot of your phone?

Turned location services off and then back on ... i get the local channels again. 2 min later it reboots and no local channels. Something is forcing it to revert to billing zip code location everytime

I do get the locals on my phone. I couldn't get the device to recognize my phone hotspot though. I dont get the regional sports channels on my phone but i think that is a different issue

Well, I need that info to make a reasonable guess at that issue. I can only assume that the issue may be the IP address of your modem from your ISP in NY.
I assume also that Florida is your home base and your billing info is based on the Florida location, correct?
