directtv streaming is not working on my samsung tv

I have tried logging in on my Samsung tv (8000 series) numerous times now with no success. I have reset the tv to clear the cache, deleted and reinstalled the app, and reset my smart hub .... all to no avail. I need a fix. It can be troubleshooting the tv or telling me to get a reciever. If this can't be switched I'll just discontinue my services. Thanks for any help

also as a side note, the acct is active because i can use the app on my mobile device.

The app for the Samsung Smart TV has always been an issue since conception with little improvement over the years. Most subscribers have opted for external streaming devices. I would suggest the same for you. If you are unwilling to that way to use the service then another streaming service is the best choice. Based on history  would not expect improvements n the near future.

I used to use the Samsung TV app then got the stream box. The Samsung app is very clunky and slow. Even if you get it to work you will be frustrated!

Let's try resetting your personal password in order to update your account information and give you access through your Samsung TV. We also recommend you to make sure your TV is up to date.

I am having the same issue on my 2020 Samsung "The Frame" TV.  It's incredibly frustrating.  Like you, every other streaming app works fine on the TV, but DirecTV Stream buffers, freezes, and is just generally terrible.  On the other hand, DirecTV Stream works completely fine on my Roku, Android phone, and through the website.  The app on the Samsung TV is clearly defective and needs to be updated immediately.

As has been reported 100's of time before, the app for the Samsung Smart TV has always been an issue since conception with little to none improvements over the years. Use an external streaming device always.The streaming devices are more powerful and support more apps. They also get more frequent updates. All the TV makers want to do is sell newer TV's - that is why they exist.

You are in a minority. Research the issues from the forum. Inferior app for years.

I ended up getting the receiver and had the same issues. AT&T said they would send a new one and I got a power cord (lol). When I called to complain, the CS rep had me try to log in again, while they tinkered on their end, so I could verify the error message. Like a miracle, the app connected and has worked fine since. Crazy.
