Questions about packages

I’m trying to figure out if we should change the package we take now to one with fewer channels since there are so many we don’t watch. It’s very hard to know what the impact would be if we go from Go Big with Max (HBO) and Peacock (for NBC sports during the blackout with Tegna) as add ons [what we have now] to the Max package with Peacock as an add on. Since we watch very little TV other than sports and news and HBO Max via the app, the Max package seems to include what we want: CBS Sports, ESPN and ESPN2, CNN, and MSNBC, with NBC programming now that we need it via discounted Peacock Premium, it seems to make sense to change.

BUT would we still be able to stream HBO with the app? Will we lose any regional sports networks? And would our bill actually be lower? Right now, as historic ATT customers, our bill doesn’t seem as high as the listed price for GoBig plus Max (HBO). Could we be getting a discount as longtime customers since 2011? Will we lose any discount we get now if we change to the Max package? Why is this sort of choice so confusing? Why isn’t there anyone who can explain things?

Hi, Trulyb1. Thank you for exploring all of your options. Once you switch from GO BIG to MAX, which offers 60+ live channels, you will lose 78 current channels and gain 16 new ones. Check more here: Compare Packages Account (directv.com)

You can still access the Max app, HBO channels, and On Demand, as well as your Regional Sports Networks with our DIRECTV MAX package. Send us a DM to discuss account-related concerns, such as billing and promos. We'll wait for you there with a helping hand. Claudine, DIRECTV Community Specialist
