Switching from satellite to stream?

Exactly. DIRECTV STREAM has no extra charges like DVR charges, HD access fee, TV access fee, etc.

As long as each TV has a streaming device like a Fire Stick, Roku, Apple TV, or DIRECTV STREAM Osprey box, you just enter your credentials in the DIRECTV STREAM app and start going. Additionally, an adequate internet speed at each TV is recommended as well. A poor connection can cause buffering, audio and video issues, or slow performance.

I’ve heard reports of several people being extremely happy after the switch. If those of you would like to chime in please do.

19 yrs on DTV here and I said I would never leave.  I actually enjoyed playing the promo  renewal game each year.  But I got antsy because our HR24 was getting more flaky by the day and my understanding was I could not replace it and would lose some of my 7 tuners.  Plus, I think the handwriting is on the wall for DTV satellite long term.

By the end of the first  day on Stream I was cautiously optimistic that it might be a keeper.  I could see that the picture quality was even better than on satellite, which was always excellent. Because our Osprey boxes had not yet arrived I sideloaded the app onto our Chromecast.  It was clunky and difficult to navigate.

That all transformed once the boxes were installed.  No question in my mind that these were the way to go over all of the other streaming devices.  I got the $49 "refurbs" from DTV and they appeared to be brand new.

That was all back in April and I have yet to have a day where I regret switching.  If only Stream would implement a manual recording padding feature like satellite had, I would have zero complaints.  The embedded auto-extend does not cover all of the sports I watch and despite the experience of others here, even on the ones it does cover I have had many missed endings.  Well, would have if I had not added recording of multiple shows after my sporting events.  But that is a giant pain in the butt to deal with.

 I am struggling considering switching to DTV Stream soon. I’ve been with DTV almost 20 years and like the others on the forum, the costs keep going up every year and I’m looking to maintain what I have, but save at the same time. I subscribe to the premium package and had to upgrade to a newer DVR last year. Although I was impressed with the fact that all my series that are set to record recorded when my family and I recently had to evacuate because of hurricane Ian, even though everything was obviously unplugged, one reason I have not transitioned to streaming is because as of yet, the streaming version does not mirror what is offered via satellite including, but not limited to the our of market sports packages (I pay for MLB every year) and access to pay-per-view. The latter unfortunately is a requirement for me because I am a writer and I cover Boxing. So even though I have used other streaming apps to access some pay-per-view cards, there are times where DTV is my only option.

If the steaming version mirrored exactly what I pay for now, including access to the MLB package and PPV,I would have no issue switching to streaming as I would likely save money without the additional fees and I’m already covered as far as streaming devices.

You're right, with DIRECTV STREAM you can have great features; nevertheless, DIRECTV Satellite offers different benefits such us NFL SUNDAY TICKET, DVR services, out of market sport services and Pay-per-view content. On the other hand, with DIRECTV STREAM you can have voice control,use different devices to stream, and take your favorite programming with you when you travel, as long as you are in the U.S territory.
