AIR vs previous Gemini Box

I just ordered the AIR device.  My question is, do we "have" to use it?  We have the previous version box already hooked up.  We canceled service and then just started it back up and we paid for the box.  Do you have to use the power adapter for the AIR?  We would be hooking up to a brand new Samsung OLED Smart TV.  I guess what I want to know really is, can we use the AIR on the new TV and use the old box version and remote on another TV?

The answer to your last question is, yes. You should be able to use the AIR device with the new TV since it just requires an HDMI cable and outlet. As far as the old box, you may use it with the remote you had prior.

And I believe you will need to use the power adapter supplied with the Air - people who have tried to use USB power provided by the TV with one have indicated it didn’t work.  (The Air requires 1.5 amps, and most TVs can only supply 1 amp.)

Absolutely! You can use the Gemini Air and your previous box on different TVs. Check out this link https://www.directv.com/support/internet/article/000095433 for step-by-step instructions on setting up the Gemini Air. Thank you for being part of DIRECTV. Haendel, DIRECTV Community Specialist
