I  have reinstalled the app. many times. My tv doesn't have the option to set the audio to stereo. I'm a retired audio/video professional and have tried every option to rectify the issue with no results.

The problem is a distorted digital beep coming from the TV's speakers. It sounds like the distortion resulting when transcoding wavs to mp3s where the CPU couldn't keep up back in the early Pentium days.

I have done ALL of the above, nothing works! 

Do you have another external device that you could use to test o the TV? 

It's not the TV, nor the external sound bar. I've disconnected, reconnected,  and reinstalled.  It's the Directv streaming app! All of my other apps work just fine! 

Well, the DirecTV Stream App is running inside your TV, so it could be an issue with how the TV is handling the DirecTV Stream App.  I bet you could solve the problem by using a separate stream device, like a $30 Roku or Firestick. It's just very puzzling that nobody else has reported this issue with TCL/Roku TVs.

The noise is only on  the Directv streaming app on a Roku TV. With all other Roku apps, the sound doesn't distort. My Fire app and android tv don't have the distortion issue using the Directv streaming app.

That's all I could find.

Get a $30 Roku or Firestick. Problem solved. 

I use a Nvidia Shield to watch DirecTV stream. I just thought that DirecTV should be aware of the problem.

Nvidia Shield is not a supported device. You must have the app sideloaded.

Now I'm confused. Are you watching DirecTV Stream using the DirecTV Stream App within your Roku TV?  Or an external Nvidia Shield device?  

Yes, I'm watching the Directv stream app that's within my TCL Roku TV. 

I’ve had this same problem with the DirectTV streaming app on my Roku TV for a long time and had given up trying to fix it. At one point the previous AT&T TV app on my Roku TV had an update and ever since that update it makes this noise constantly while watching any channel. Only happens on this app. I thought maybe when the app changed to DirectTV streaming this issue would go away but it never did.
