AppleTV+ App on Osprey?
Hi there, I'm new to the DirecTVStream and the DirecTV Stream box (ie Osprey).
I thought it was an AndroidTV / GoogleTV box but in the app store I can't find an AppleTV+ app. Is it not there? Is there any workaround/solution? I thought all the Android apps were available.

Yes, the DIRECTV STREAM Osprey Box is Android-based, especially being that it has the Google Play Store.
Here is a Guide from the actual DIRECTV website showing how to add additional apps:

As a side note, I checked the Google Play Store and do NOT see Apple TV + as an app, just the regular Apple TV. Therefore, perhaps there is not an install for it yet on the Android platform. You can try sideloading an APK of Apple TV Plus if it is available but be extra careful of where you install the APK from.

It is available in google play store---just not the google play store on the Dtv Stream box. I have AppleTV+ installed on my Tivo stream 4k android tv dongle. Not all google play stores are created equal lol. It depends on the device.

@Ludwick577 lol, so I guess sideloading the app by installing an APK online from a trusted website is the way.

Thanks for the info, as I didn't realize that the store changes by device. I just assumed hey if you were on this OS version you could get this app. Sigh.
At least I wish ATT/DTV would give some sort of statement like, well we know AppleTV+ won't run on Osprey because blah blah

@icedcorn right, but do remember that you can still sideload Apple TV plus on your Osprey box. Just find an APK

Just a follow up for the first reply - the AppleTV app includes AppleTV+ as part of it ; it's not a separate/different app. Sorry for the confusion.
