Bought a box off of ebay but old owners account is still on it
Hello. I bought a box off of ebay for next month when I switch to DTV stream. But when it arrived today and I plugged it in it let me sign into my Google account and then it went to straight to channel 202 and when I tried to hard reset it to get rid of the old owners account it is still there. How do I get rid of the old owners account if possible.

Once it is attached to the owner’s account you cannot remove it. Start a refund through eBay to get your money back. That’s why we strongly suggest against buying used DIRECTV STREAM boxes as they are essentially useless being that they are on the owner’s account.

Should have done your research before buying from Ebay. Dtv sells refurbished boxes 49.99 with a 1 yr warranty.

Sadly, you bought a boat anchor. Hopefully you can get your money back from the seller.

It's better to get a refurbished account from DTV directly ($49, I think). eBay boxes probably haven't been updated for a long time, and they're bricks. Hopefully, you can return it.

I received a box that was still linked to a previous owner's account and their account was still active on the box. I received this box from Directv Stream customer service. I had to do multiple factory resets to get it to sign out of the previous owner's account. For most of these resets, I was on the phone with customer service nothing I did nor anything they tried would get it to return to factory default so that I could sign in. But after resetting about 20 times it finally signed out of the old owner's account so that I could sign into my account. You could try hard resetting it over and over again to get it to sign out. But most likely unless their account is still active I would think that it would be best to try and get your money back as most boxes are unuseable from eBay I do know a few people who were lucky and bought boxes that were able to work so good luck.
