My remote won't control a Marantz receiver even though it says it will.

I apologize it still doesn't control your Marantz receiver even after confirmation. Let's make sure that the Switch Volume Control is under Speaker using these steps.

- Press the ‘Home’ button on the remote

- Arrow left to expand the left side navigation menu

- Arrow down to select ‘Settings’ (Gear Icon), press ‘OK’ on the remote

- Select "Systems", press "OK"

- Select "Remote & Devices", press "OK"

- Select ‘Program Your Remote’, press OK

- Select ‘Switch Volume Control’, press OK

- Select ‘Speaker System’, press OK

Let me know if this works.

Do you have DIRECTV STREAM or DIRECTV SATELLITE? What is the receiver model and remote model (remote model is on the top left of the remote and starts with RC) ?

Hi, @dgm1941. We're sorry your remote won't control your Marantz receiver. Please refer to Explore your Box Voice Remote | DIRECTV Support to program your Gemini Remote with TV or sound bar.

Denon and Marantz use the same IR codes.

During setup, the device does mute and unmute and it does lower the volume but it doesn’t once it goes to back to normal function. Also when I put in the make (Marantz) and model (AV7706), it says it now controls the unit, it doesn’t.

John, I should clarify what I meant when I say doesn’t control the receiver I meant the volume. The remote does control ON/OFF.

Thank you for clarifying. Let's perform a factory reset on your remote control with these steps:

- Press and hold the Home and Exit keys simultaneously until the LEDs on both sides display red
- Press 981 on the remote control
- The LEDs will turn Off and then blink blue 3 times on both sides.

Once done, pair the remote control back to the TV by pressing and holding the Rewind (<<) and Fast Forward (>>) buttons simultaneously. After pairing, follow these steps to program your remote to the speaker system manually.

- Go to 'Settings' (Gear Icon), press 'OK' on the remote
- Select 'Remote & Devices', press 'OK' on the remote
- Select 'Program Your Remote', press 'OK' on the remote
- Select 'Remote & Devices', press 'OK' on the remote
- Select 'Program Your Remote', press 'OK' on the remote
- Select 'Speaker System', press 'OK' on the remote
- Select 'Standard' and enter Speaker Brand name and Model number
- Follow the prompts on the TV until the system provides a confirmation message.

John, thanks for your assistance.  I tried your suggestion of pressing the home and 9-8-1.  Both led's turned solid red and the volume bar came on and it worked.  I didn't have to go further.  I'm not sure why this worked but i t did.  Thanks again for your assistance.
