Deleting pre-installed apps

So can you delete apps that were pre-installed like Discovery Plus and can you rearrange the apps by favorites or in any kind of order?

Hello @Rose4uKY thanks for bringing this to our attention.

Just to confirm, you're trying to delete pre-installed apps on the DIRECTV STREAM device. Is that correct?

Yes we are new to Direct TV Stream on our 5 day trial and just got our boxes yesterday. Under apps we have Discovery Plus which we don't even have and I went to play store on box and didn't see it their to delete.

And we also wanted to know if we could arrange the apps in a certain order and if you can't delete ones you don't use can you favorite them like your guide just to see the ones you use.

Also another topic but like I had 2 recordings of something and started playing 1 and realized I had watched it is their a way to just hit a button on the remote and delete like a shortcut or do I need to go to library and delete it there? Just Curious! Thanks!

Edit: Oh I just saw where it went to Live TV and I hit the back button and it took me right to my recording and I deleted from there so that was good. I'll learn more as we go along.

No, you cannot delete the apps that are preinstalled you can only delete the apps that you install.  There is no way to my knowledge to prioritize your apps but since you have the Directv Stream Boxes all you have to do is press the microphone button on your remote and say open and say the name of the app and it will automatically open to the app that you want.  You can also do the same thing to turn to a channel name or number.

You can't uninstall pre-installed apps. What I do is go into settings--apps and "uninstall updates" so they don't take up much space and are reverted to factory default. Saves a lot of space and speeds up the stream box. U also have to go into google play store--click your account in the upper right hand corner and turn of auto update apps. Just go in there every once in a while and manually update the apps you use.

Also, apps are put in order of recent use. You don't need a favorites eventually the ones you use the most will be listed first.

Oh ok thanks so much for responding. We got our main box set up in the family room and signed into all of our apps. Even though we usually watch Netflix and Prime from the TV and it's 4K and our Netflix plan includes 4K and we watch UHD movies alot on Prime will they be that way through our new box if it's available as UHD?

Thanks for all your help. Just set up my 2nd box in my office where I watch every morning but didn't do anything with apps yet. Just been watching reocrdings and so far we really like it and I love having the remote. And yes the google and mic helps we do that on our Android TV and will say open HBO Max I forgot about that.

Yes now that we have the boxes and remotes we are much happier. I noticed one remote said apps in the bottom corner and the one I am using now has a diamond like icon any difference? I know we got renewed ones so it's not a big deal but just now when I was logging into I think Tubi it was my whole box rebooted. But so far so good. Thanks! I have to cancel my Spectrum before my next auto pay is due and cancel my Tivo.

I am so glad that you are happy.  I know that I enjoy using the boxes way more than using my other devices to stream my Directv Streaming as they are way easier to navigate.  The remote with the diamond is just an older version of the same remote and the remote that says apps on it is newer.  Both remotes should work the same even tho they do not look exactly the same.  I have had the same thing happen to me when going from watching live tv to booting up one of the apps it happens occasionally and I don't mind that it happens as it generally occurs when I am moving into or out of one of the apps.

Thanks! Last night my husband set up the box in our bedroom and I realized it lit up another thing I like. But what is the one button on the remote for with the 3 dots. Something popped up on my screen earlier to click it not sure what for or what it did. Guess I could try it again. When I googled it I saw Overflow something about actions available.

But when my show like my soap for instance is over and they start showing scenes for tomorrow and I'm ready to delete I usually just hit the back button and it takes me back to my library than I delete it there is that what you do or is their an easier way?

Anyway thanks for answering all my questions! Appreciate it :-)

If you don't know what a button does--why don't you just click it and find out?? And yes, you can use the three dots button to delete shows you are watching. That's just one of the features.
