DirectTV Stream Streaming Device Ethernet port
I have been setting up my new DirectTV Stream streaming devices, and noticed that they only connect at 100mb, even though I'm plugging them into a GB switch with tested and known good Cat 6 cables. I ran the onboard network test on the boxes, and they say the throughput is 86mb, which the test reports is "perfect for HD streaming video". Do these DirectTV devices only have 100mb ports? Given that the rest of the box is so slick, I'd be surprised to find out they skimped on the network connection and didn't put a GB Ethernet port in them. I've taken great care to run GB Ethernet throughout my house, not just for DirectTV Stream, of course, but also for my various computer devices. And I'm getting 1GB connections at all points...except for the DirectTV boxes.
Anyone know the specs on this??

Only a USB 2.0 port, too. :) It wouldn't have cost much to build some future into the box, but I guess they only give you what they HAVE to give you. Thanks very much for the quick and complete reply, Ludwick577.

The ethernet port is only 10/100 it's not 1 gb. I use ethernet. I have compared ethernet vs wifi (I get over 300mb using wifi) and changing channels--stream quality are the same. Ethernet is just more reliable. Getting GB speed is not going to make a difference with streaming services like Dtv stream.

100Mb ethernet is plenty fast enough for streaming video. No need for DirecTV to spend more money on a faster ethernet port.
