Directv stream stopped working over HDMI cable
I use DtvStream in the app on my iPhone when traveling. For 2 years I have plugged my iPhone directly to tv with an HDMI cable. It has stopped working in the last week. I can watch fine on phone with no network or other issues. But when I plug it into HDMI cable it freezes and never plays. Is there a setting that got updated in a recent release (either iOS or the app) that I need to fix? Any other ideas? I’m not using airplay because I do not have WiFi. Just a regular hdmi cable. Thank you!!

We can confirm that the DIRECTV STREAM app has been designed to be fully compatible with specific devices. Using the DIRECTV STREAM app through a third party accessory is not officially supported, and its functionality can't be assured.

So this has worked fine for 2 years. The app was updated 12/14 and I tried to use it on 12/15. Was there an update to the app that prevents plugging in an HDMI cable to display on the tv? I don’t consider that a third party device.

Maybe your HDMI cable needs replaced.

Thank you @Ludwick577 ! I did consider that (and will try it). However, when I’m not using the directv stream app, everything appears on the tv fine… my iPhone just mirrors up there with email, pics, browser, etc. But it is possible something is wrong with the cable and I plan to check that.

I tried a different hdmi cable, different hdmi port and a new lightening adapter to no avail. HOWEVER… I found in another forum that the culprit is likely iOS 16. Others have reported same issue with video and/or audio not working over hdmi cable with lightening adapter. No acknowledgement yet from apple but I think THAT is the answer! Dtv didn’t change the app. Just reporting for others to know if you have same issue.
