directv stream using app on Roku

I have a DirecTV Stream account and it works great on the box ATT provided.  However when I attempt to sign in using the DirecTV stream app on Roku I can't access my account.   I downloaded the app, launched it, provided my username and password and attempted to log in.  I received a banner message that the app is for Directv stream (which is what I want) and I hit the "OK" button on the screen.  I was immediately sent back to the DirecTV Stream log in screen.   This same thing happened while trying to use the app on my firestick.  Any ideas?

Curious if you are a previous DirecTV satellite user? If so, are you using the same credentials as previous satellite service?

Thanks for replying --- yes I was a Direct TV satellite user but  I was able to sign into the streaming box that ATT provided with no problem.  I cannot sign in using the app from Roku or firestick.   I just got off the phone with ATT and they cannot find a cure yet.  They escalated my issue to someone with more expertise.

@JWS but are you using the same credentials for the service that you had with the satellite service?

If by credentials you mean my username, email and home mail address then the answer is yes

Try a new email/username with the Dtv Stream account. You can change it on the Dtv Stream website.

I should have never started this chat cause I'm not at all familiar with the technology.   I have no idea how to change email/username on the dtv stream web site.    I've looked everywhere until I started to get all hot, sweaty and anxious.   But thanks a ton for trying to help out a total blockhead

When I sign into the dtv stream website ATT takes control and posts the following 

"We're sending you to att.com

Looks like you also have an AT&T service associated with this user ID. Since you do, you'll still view and manage your profile info there."

After 3 days and numerous hours on the phone with 15+ Directv folks with no resolution to my issue, I cancelled my service.  Thanks to all for your support.

Easy. Login to your account. Go to profile and make sure he changes.
