Home network update without changing my setup.
Today for the first time I had to reset my home network. This is very concerning as nothing has changed with my home network settings.
Why would this happen all of a sudden ? All posts say that my provider must have changed my IP address. Static IP addresses are not available.
Am I going to forced to drop DIRECTV stream after this happens 3 more times ? Is there anything that can be done to stop this from happening?

Yes, you may. Nothing is going to change with the way DirecTV Stream determines home base. Suggest you consult with your ISP or seek another streaming option.

Are you telling me they just won’t reset the counter for me when this is clearly a flaw in how DIRECTV handles streaming?
If DIRECTV actually tells me too bad, then I will cancel.
I went a year without any issues until now.

Maybe and maybe not. I will tell you they want continuously reset the counter. The issue is with your ISP, not DirecTV Stream. All streaming services have some mechanism to determine your location.

I understand what you are saying, I am just saying canceling as a first reaction is a bit extreme.
Any idea how to set a static IP address? Is it on my router or in my EERO ? I have on unit hardwired to my router, all others are on WiFi from my whole home EERO.

Your ISP has to assign a dedicated port address to your modem. They control the assignment.

Ok. I checked with my ISP and other ISP’s in my area. None offer a static IP for residential customers, only business customers. Even if I could get a business account it is too expensive.
This has to be an issue for so many, I can’t believe a solution is not being addressed.

Sure has been for many. This is nothing new. The service has always been dependent on the IP address for home location since the conception of the service. Nothing has changed. It is what it is - sorry. It just may be that a different service would be a fit that you need.

I agree that building a service dependent on a static IP address when DTV **knows** that most residential subscribers don't have access to a static IP address, even if they wanted to pay for it. It just seems kinda boneheaded. Is this sustainable?
My apartment complex recently switched from the satellite DirecTV bulk plan to the DTV Stream bulk. The Stream change-over seemed okay until I saw how much of my Internet data is getting chewed up, and now this static IP business. (Edited per community guidelines)!
