how to search for a tv show when programming my DVR without knowing the channel on DirecTV via Internet
I just got DirecTV and chose the internet access option (small smart dongle that connects to internet and HDMI. I'm setting up tv shows to be recorded. so far if I just do a search with the TV shows name it only gives me options like Apple+ etc. (pay channels) even with the show is available on PBS or other networks.
DirecTV support says I have to know the channel and select it in the Guide that slide across days and hours till I find the show. I have lots of shows of interest but I don't know the channels nor day and time. Is this the way it really works? Is it different with the satellite option?

On your Directv remote, there is a round button with a microphone on it. If you press that button and say the name of the show, it should bring up the show you are looking for without the channel number. You can record the show from there as long as it recognizes the show you are looking for.

I've done that and it works except it usually only lists channels/networks that are mostly pay per view or other apps. It doesn't offer any of the networks (e.g., PBS, History Channel, etc). The help desk says this is how it works.
