hulu app not working

I'm using the opsry box and for the last week Hulu will open, but not play anything. Tried everything including uninstall/reinstall, shutdown, reboot.

Hulu updated their app about 2 weeks ago. I was able to update it on my Android TV and it worked fine. When I try to use it in the AT&T Streaming box it does not stream the program. There is no way to update the app in the AT&T box so I think that is the issue. How about AT&T and Hulu get together and solve this issue instead of pointing fingers at each other.

I'm having the same issue, contacted Hulu about it twice and just sent an email to the Google Play Store. It does seem to be an issue with the app not being updated so Hulu won't play anything. Hulu and/or Google need to either fix this issue or pull the app from the Play store on the DirecTV Stream device! Though if Hulu has pulled support for the app on the device I think that's pretty stupid, no reason why it shouldn't work at all since it's fine on other Android TV devices.

I have exactly the same problem.  At least it is confirmed here.  I pinpointed that I believe it is an update by Hulu onto the DirecTV stream box via Google Play Store on 5/13/2022.  With this update, it broke.  Called Hulu, they say to call DirecTV.  Based on DirecTV tech support here, that is a waste.  Guess it is time to cancel the Hulu subscription.  Everything else works fine on my DirecTV Stream boxes.  Only Hulu has this problem.  Maybe they don't want our business.  Hulu tech support didn't even know what a DirecTV Stream device was.  A lot of help they are.

I'm having the same issue. I have called customer service (Hulu and DirecTV). I've factory reset all my boxes, created new Google accounts for each box and rebooted the router..etc. It started working again but once I got to the 5th and last box it failed and all my box's gave me the error again. Just when I thought I figured it out back to square one! No one seems to be taking the fix as a priority. It's now been a few weeks and no solution. No problems from any other streaming service. The only time I encounter the issue is on the DirecTV Stream device.

Interestingly, just tested Hulu on two separate Chrome installations (Linux and Chromebook), and it now works fine.  Hulu used to fail to run on these devices and older versions of Chrome.  Could be related to this issue.

Hulu tech support just informed me that there is "temporary incompatibility with this device". They say they're working with the manufacturer to remedy it.

This is good to hear.  Perhaps I will keep the service a while longer to see if it will get fixed in a reasonable time.  Don't know how many Hulu customers are also DirecTV stream customers, but I would think that Hulu would not want to lose customers!  Perhaps they are starting to listen.  It's broken !!!!

Yeah I tried Hulu today and nope, it's still not working on the DirecTV Stream android box, they need to fix it!

Well, I was told just 5 mins ago by Hulu that this is a known issue and that they are working on fixing it but said that they do not know how long it will take them because there not sure what caused it! So I hope this helps everyone that is having problems with Hulu!  If you contact them they might be able to give you some credit toward your next bill!

I think the last update broke it.  Actually, not that hard to figure it out.  Before then, no complaints.  Now, it is broken.  If nothing else, revert back to the previous version, and at least it will work !

Last update was May 13. They usually do an update once a month so I'm sure a fix will be soon.

@Vandyfc assuming that you have an Android device, the only way to downgrade would be to go to a web browser and install an older APK of the DIRECTV app. 

If you have an Apple device, this is not possible because the App Store prohibits from downgrading the DIRECTV app.

I guess I was misinterpreted.  Not the directv app, but the hulu app needs to downgrade.  I have no idea how to do this, but hulu can do it.  Just send us a working, and error-free app to run hulu on the directv receivers; an android tv app.  Make a new upgrade equal to the old version.  Not us.  Hulu !  This is Hulu's fault !!
