local channels

While my house is being painted I am staying at a friends house about 2 miles away while he is out of town..I brought my Directv streaming device with me and it all works fine...I get my local Florida channels....when I signed in on one of his firesticks in another room though I get Detroit local channels...why is that

Are you signed in with his credentials or your credentials? Depending on how his device was configured, it may think you are out of town.

Your DirecTV Streaming device has location services and knows where you are at, whereas the Fire stick does not have location services. If he is from Detroit and configured the device there, then the device knows his home location for his credentials are Detroit. When you signed in on his device, it provided the Detroit locations.

Hi there. Understanding why the local channels showing on the DIRECTV STREAM device are different from the Firestick is essential to enjoy your services entirely. Depending on the location listed on your Firestick, your local channels may vary. Therefore, please check your Firestick settings and verify the location registered. Share with us the information via DM, to provide you with further assistance. Laura, DIRECTV Community Specialist.

The firestick is set for the same zip code as mine in Florida

Did your friend get Florida locals when he logged in to the device, or were they from Detroit?

Are any of you from Detroit and had your device configured in Detroit?
