Mute button not working on remote using older Osprey box

Up until today the mute button worked fine. I subscribed to DTV Stream about 3 weeks ago. When I press it...it does mute but as soon as I release the button it no longer is muted. I've tried all the suggestions on the website. Changing batteries and reprogramming the remote to no avail. Is this just another hiccup that will eventually correct itself? Frustrating.

@MSDOGS1976  had this issue with Onkyo and I fixed it by toggling off HDMI-CEC, so it went back to controlling my TV volume. I muted and it muted tv. Then I turned CEC back on and it switched back to speaker system volume control and mute now works (on stays on) until unmuted. No more holding button down.

I conversed with a DTV representative and I received a new remote but believe it or not I have the same problem with this one. Mute button will only work when holding it down. As soon as I release it the sound returns. I'm guessing it must have something to do with the set top box. BTW I can mute the sound system with my LG remote so I know my system works. Oh well....not the end of the world as I can live with it. Just an oddity.

Normally, it should work since it's a new remote. Since you have an LG remote, you can still use it to control the volume of the TV. You can also do these steps to program your remote since this is a new one. Heads-up, please make sure that your TV is on DIRECTV input for steps to work. Here:

 

- Press the pairing keys together and hold Rewind (<<) and Fast Forward (>>).

- LED lights on the remote flash twice once paired.

- Confirmation displays on the screen is displayed.

Thanks for all the replies but I'm no longer with DTV Stream. After the lapse in coverage of sports early September and a price increase during this period I moved to Youtube TV.
