I have helped several customers install the dtv stream box. My roommate went to order dtv stream and no box was offered? Is dtv stream no longer offering the box (or dongle)?

They are now offering 2 different streaming plans - Stream and “DirecTV via Internet”. They’re sort of positioning the latter as if it was the same as satellite, just without the dish, but it really isn’t - it’s still Stream, but with somewhat different (and generally more expensive) pricing and with access to get Gemini Air dongles (which have apparently replaced Osprey/Gemini boxes). Neither are apparently offered to Stream subscribers any more, but as far as I know, if you get them on eBay or whatever, they still work. At some point they may differentiate (more) between the 2 plans or drop Stream completely, but that hasn’t happened yet.
You can get details on the differences (mostly by reading between the lines) on the website. They talk about “via Internet” on directv.com - to get to the Stream page you need to find the link at the bottom of the main page.
