No sound coming out of center channel of Demon Dolby Digital + Receiver.
Hello I used to have the best Dolby digital plus sound out of all speakers including"CENTER CHANNEL" but I know long can seem to get center channel working without changing audio setting from surround to stereo, but then it will be pro logic sound instead? What can I do? Something I really hope!

Hi @timmerrr23, we are here to answer your questions.
The best option to have a full Dolby Digital experience out of your DIRECTV STREAM box is to connect the streaming box using the Optical audio cable to the Denon, Optical audio input to ensure a full immersive experience. The DIRECTV STREAM box is all or nothing depending on your audio settings in the box, if set to 'surround', it will indeed pass along any 5.1 it gets. When tuned to a stereo broadcast channel, it will lock you into those exact 2 channels (Left/Right) within the signal while the Dolby light still appears on your receiver.
Please keep in mind that the audios depend on the broadcasters, this means, that you may have Dolby Digital, however if the broadcaster is broadcasting in stereo, you will get it in stereo.
Let us know if you have any further questions or concerns, we'll be happy to help!

DirecTV's response is not accurate. I also have a DirecTV Stream (C71K) box connected to my Denon AV Receiver and it does the same thing. Doesn't matter if it's connected via HDMI or optical digital audio. My Roku connected to the same Denon AVR using the DirecTV Stream App does not have this issue. Audio works properly.

Thank you I understand but it used to be in Dolby digital plus meaning center worked. For both sci and history channel... Now it doesn't. With setting on stereo I got, 5.1 prologic but with setting on surround it was DD+.

@timmerrr23, we want to help figure out what happened to your audio.
Just a quick question, are all the channels having issues with the Dolby Digital audio or just a few?

It is like that for every channel. This seems to be a common problem amongst DirecTV stream subscribers.. Although others seem to have a few channels in digital + working as it should. Thanx!

Let's connect in a Direct Message to take a closer look on this. Please check your DIRECTV Message Inbox (It's the chat icon next to the bell icon in the upper right corner of the Forums), to get started.

This has been reported here and on a few Reddit posts before. If the source material is stereo and the settings are for surround sound the output will be compressed audio with only the left and right channels populated. However, if @timmerrr23 is seeing this in all channels, indeed, there's a problem here.

To chime in here, I am watching the Dodger game right now with a 4k Genie and Onkyo AVR. On the 4k feed I get ch 105 i get Dolby audio DD+ 5.1 from the Genie, with no center channel feed. I swap to ch 690 and see Dolby Audio DD and 2.0 CHannel but the center works perfectly. Same broadcast only difference is channel and SD vs 4k. Vastly different audio quality.
