Using Channel button with favorites on DirecTV Stream Device
Greetings all,
I recently purchased a DirecTV stream device and have signed up for DirecTV Stream. The reason I chose this service over others is due to the "cable-like" experience that it offers. My grandmother is 88 years old and suffered a stroke several years ago. Services such as YouTube TV, Hulu Live, or Phillo have interfaces that are too busy for her to use effectively. She has been using the Satellite version of DirecTV for several years, but due to the number of TVs in the house the bill is quite high. Our goal is to shutter the Satellite service and move to DirecTV Stream.
I have it setup, and it works well. She is able to turn the TV on and flip through channels with the channel button on the remote. I have setup favorites in the guide. The issue I'm running into now is that even with favorites selected, when I am outside of the guide and flipping through channels with the channel button, it has to go through every channel. Is there a way to force it to flip through the channels that are in the favorites without having to go into the guide?

There is another option for your grandmother. If you press the up or down button on the remote it brings up a list of recent channels. You can go/tune to her favorite channels so they show up on the recent list and make it easier for her to get to them. It shows the 10 most recent channels. I use it all the time vs going to the guide or flipping thru the channels.

I was afraid that was the answer. Unfortunately when I called the DirecTV Support Phone number I was less than impressed with the knowledge of the rep who spoke with me. She was unable to grasp that I was using the DirecTV Stream Device, told me that my LG television was the reason some features were not working, and suggested I purchase a Television from Roku or Apple. And she was quite incredulous when I told her that Apple does not make a Television.

Thank you, that's a good idea. I'll see if it will work for her.
