Using Directv stream service without their device

I’m using Directv stream free trial to decide whether to switch from YTTV..  I do not want to buy the device for my 3tv’s.  The app on my Hisense android tv does not work very well with Hisense remote.  Is there another remote that works better?  My 2 other tvs have Roku box and other uses Nvidia Shield.  I have not tried Directv Stream app on those yet but would like to know the best remote for those devices as well.  Once again, I do not want to buy Directv’s streaming device.  Thank u

What do you mean by ‘best’ remote? Whatever remote is used for the specific streaming device is the one you use to operate DIRECTV STREAM.

If you’d like a more traditional cable/satellite feel, then you would go with the DIRECTV STREAM box.

If I had to recommend a box to use (as far as the boxes you have now), I would suggest you use those Roku devices until you decide whether or not DTV stream is for you.

I use my Hisense remote to operate Directv stream app.  It works poorly.  No button for guide.  I’m asking if there is a universal remote that might work or even an old Directv satellite remote that would work.  I have a few laying around.  The same question for the Roku remote and Shield remote

Only the DirecTV Stream box has a remote with dedicated buttons for things like GUIDE and numerical channel selection. You can get a DirecTV Stream box for $49 when you sign up.

Does anyone happen to know if old -white rounded-Directv satellite remote would work on Hisense Tv?

The best that any DirecTV remote can do is control the TV's functions. It won't control features in a TV's App, for example, GUIDE. That's only possible with a DirecTV box.
