Why do I have two Directv apps on my phone?

The second one is the current version of the DTV app (latest version is 4.0.46, released yesterday) - this is the merged app that supports both DTV Stream and DTV satellite. I'm not positive, but I will guess the first one is either the previous (dedicated) DTV satellite app or the older (dedicated) DTV Stream app. (The version number implies the former, I think.) Do you currently have (or used to have) DTV satellite?

Yes.
I'm sure you're correct, but Directv tech support told me just the the opposite when it came to the latest version, and didn't offer me the content of your advice. I'm gad I came here for verification.

is correct. The older app was a standalone one designed for DIRECTV satellite service but the new one merged both services into one o app (with some bugs still needing to be fixed).
