Discounts are hard to come by as DIRECTV is losing customers by the day. However, if you would still like to try, call them at the number in my greeting. Once in the menu with the robot, say "cancel" to be sent to the retention department, which will take your concern seriously if you say that you want to cancel if your monthly rate will not be discounted.
NOTE: This special discount will likely only last a year, so you will need to call again. Discounts with them are never permanent.
