Both genie remotes won't control Denon receiver
I have two genie remotes for the same room. Both will control the tv and direct tv receiver without issue. Only one remote will control the volume on the Denon receiver. The other says it will program and changes the volume initially. Once I leave the menu, it no longer works. The first remote remains unchanged. Oddly neither will turn the denon on and off.

Right as the RC7X remotes are not made to turn on/off any soundbars/A/V receivers, HDMI-CEC does.

Ok fine if they don't turn it on and off but why won't they control the volume or at least hold the program after leaving the menu?

Hey, @Caajja, thank you so much for reaching us out.
Let's try to program your DIRECTV remote by following the next steps:
1. Move the top slider switch to "TV".
2. Press and hold MUTE & SELECT, wait for two blinks, release.
3. Enter the TV code and then, to get the audio/video receiver working:
1. Move the top slider switch to av1 or av2.
2. Press and hold MUTE & SELECT, wait for two blinks, release.
3. Enter receiver Code for your AVR that is listed under "programming remote" in the "Settings".
Let us know how it goes!

Hey @Caajja, thank you for bringing that to our attention.
Please take a look at these other steps to program your Genie remote control.
Let us know if that works.

Right genie remote without the slider. I previously tried the programming link - even cycling through ir/rf and a reset cycle. Even after that I still can't control the volume of the Denon receiver. It's the same thing. Several auto-programming codes work while in the menu but once the menu is exited, no bueno. Also these remotes worked on the old Denon receiver - controlled volume and power on the Denon.
