DIRECTV APP Available on All Smart TVs OR only Samsung Smart TV. Don't need TV Box if i have Smart TV.
So i called to sign up DTV VIA SATELLITE, i have 6 TVs and I was told by one of sales rep that i don't need a TV Box if i have a Smart tv. He said i can just simply download DIRECTV app on my Smart TV and start watching all channels on App. Is that true...? Do i really not need the TV box if i have smart TV , Like any TV box.?
Secondly, He Also Said that it doesn't have to be any specific brand of TV. DIRECTV app will work on any Smart TV. Is that True? I'm pretty much sure i heard/read someone saying that DIRECTV APP is only compatible with SAMSUNG SAMRT TVs.
Please Help before i sign up.

We have DirecTV STREAM. We have 4 TVs (all Samsung smart). 3 of our TVs have Apple TV attached and one with a DirecTV unit attached. Monthly charge is about $108. OUCH. We thought it would be lower with streaming. Add in internet service (about $140), 2 ATT cell phones....sure is getting costly.

Not true, I have a smart tv and can’t download the direct tv app.

Not all smart TVs and streaming devices are supported. You can get a list of compatible devices on the website, although it may not be updated to current specs. The best advice is to verify that you can download the app to your device. If it can be downloaded, then it should be compatible.
