Faulty Receivers/Protection Plan Scam

Your protection plan is an absolute scam along with your faulty receivers! You create the protection plan because your receivers always go out! We haven't had our main receiver for a full year and it has already went bad. What's awfully suspicious is, the crappy thing goes bad almost a month and a half after i cancelled your worthless protection plan. When I mentioned this to your technician he actually thought it was comical.

So let me get this right, you want me to pay $8 extra to my bill every month, so that when your cheap receiver malfunctions, I can save $20 on shipping and handling??? Here's the catch, when you pay this extra $8 for 10 years straight you have no issues but the moment you cancel the protection plan, like magic, you now have a bad receiver that needs to be replaced.

What a scam of a company this is

AFAIK DTV only checks the receivers using the USB ports to access the problem list. cleans the minis and DVRs and replaces the hard drives if that doesn't restore it then they replace the motherboard or scrap it.

I just got an email about a new protection plan that DirectTV says I signed up for on 9/1/23 that is $23 per month in addition to my normal bill. I never signed up for a new plan. I already had a plan on my account and it was much lower than this.  My bill keeps increasing and there are almost nothing but reruns and no movie channels. Yet I just got a bill for $110 for what? I am going to have to find service elsewhere. The prices keep going up but the services do not represent the charges.

DTV has no control over what the channels sends them, all content providers send the same programing to all TV providers. All DTV protection plans are optional so go back to the basic plan if you still want it.
