Genie remote 0 button doesn’t work.

My remote control “0” button does not work. All other buttons function correctly. What can I do to remedy this situation? I don’t have a equipment protection plan. I used to just take the faulty remote to a ATT store and trade it for a good one.

Yes, this is a remote related issue. Before assuming that the remote is no longer functioning, I would try putting fresh new batteries in. If that doesn't work, you can try going to an ATT store or simply by buying a new DIRECTV Genie remote off Amazon or eBay. Whatever you choose works fine.

DTV remotes are cheaper online.  AFAIK AT&T stores don't have DTV remotes.

Yes, shannon02 I assumed that as well but the OP claimed that it was done before so I just went with it. Please just buy a new remote off Amazon, eBay, etc.

Hello @craig_sarah_n we're delighted to help.

Try these helpful tips:
•On most DIRECTV receivers, there is a red button on the side of the receiver or inside the access card http://sm.att.com/6b9012f4 and hold the red button until the receiver restarts.
•Note: Are you unable to locate the red button? Unplug the receiver's power cord from the electrical outlet. Wait 15 seconds before plugging it back in.

Reset a remote control
If restarting your receiver didn’t help, try resetting the remote control:
•Press MENU on the remote.
•Arrow down to Settings and press SELECT.
•Go to Remote Control and press SELECT.
•Select Pair/Program Remote. Depending on your setup, this may be automatic, or you may have to enter codes into your remote. Use the code lookup tool to find the 5-digit code.

Here's more information on how to fix your genie remote control

Please let us know if this worked.
