How do I get Directv on a new Samsung Smart TV, I already have the subscription.

For DirecTV Satellite, you'll need a satellite DVR/Receiver and dish. 

For DirecTV Stream service, you'll need a subscription and the DirecTV Stream App on your Samsung TV. 

Which service do you have?

Samsung hub and search for Directv Stream. Download app, enter credentials,voila.

@Annie21 what "subscription" do you have, DirecTV satellite or directv stream? They are 2 completely different services 

If @Annie21  signed up for DTV SAT, wouldn't they have walked @Annie21 through the process of what the requirements and equipment are needed?

This post is in the DirecTV Satellite Forum, so it's important to know what service they've subscribed to. They might be trying to use the wrong app. Need more info. 

Don't have SAT, curious, cable run to sat box then hdmi to tv? what app would be needed?

@chasf00 the op is posting in the DirecTV satellite forum, but asking a question about the app for tvs which is only for the DirecTV streaming service that's what we're trying to clarify, a lot of people think the DirecTV streaming app can be used on a tv to watch the satellite service. She's also saying "how do I get my DirecTV" and I miss my DirecTV which indicates that she has the satellite service NOT the streaming service

Don't make assumptions. @Annie21 also mentioned a Samsung TV, which folks here had problems with, Guessing @Annie21 figured as there is no response since OP.

@nabukl I see no such question from the OP or any mention of an app. Maybe that’s what they mean, maybe not. They could be asking how to connect their satellite receiver to the new tv. After all, they did admit to being technically challenged and that surprisingly is not an uncommon question. My bet is they actually have Stream service but are in the wrong forum.

I try hard not to jump to conclusions. That's why I ask clarifying questions. Throwing out answers without sufficient information will only confuse the OP.

This thread became an exercise in futility. After initial post the OP stayed out of the conversation so guessed the OP figured out what was wrong.
