How do I program RC73 remote to my regular H25-100 receiver?
How do I program an RC73 remote to my regular H25-100 receiver? Everywhere I look (DirecTV, Amazon, tech sites) it says that you can use the RC73 remote with ALL (not just Genie) DirecTV receivers in IR mode. Have been trying for two days to program the new remote but to no avail. WHAT'S UP?

After digging around a little on the internet, I finally got my ELEMENT tv programmed to my RC73 remote by using an EMERSON code (10178)! How does DirecTV allow this to happen? You would think that they would publish the correct codes for their loyal customers.

Not sure, as all DTV remotes are pre-programmed to control all DTV receivers in IR. Are you sure that the H25 doesn't have the RF dongle connected to it so it works in RF? Or it is possible that the H25 is not a DTV residential unit but for a hotel that uses different codes?

The RC73 works with the H25, but only IN IR mode. If you wish to use RF mode with the H25, you need both the RF dongle as well as an RC66RX remote (or RC65x, etc).
The firmware of the H25 tells if it is in hotel mode or regular residential mode. To check, go to Menu, Settings & Help, Settings, and check for the Software Version. Post that here.. I can verify.

Oops, so sorry. I meant to ask how do I program the RC73 remote to my Element television. The remote works the receiver already. I've followed the instructions that came with the remotes but have been unable to program them to our tvs. Thanks!

BTW, what is a dongle? Sorry, but I am old and technologically challenged.

The H25 needs an antenna/adapter to be used in RF with the older RC6XR remotes but the RC7X will not work with it. TV makers don't always send DTV their new codes plus some TVs are made by one company and rebranded to many other companies/names like Walmart plus DTV never says their remotes will control every TV out there.
