DTV satellite doesn't have a free trial so if you have DTV streaming you are in the wrong forum.

What ‘hub’ are you referring to? Do you mean the DIRECTV HS17? This is the primary receiver being installed in most residential areas so you should get it by default. If not, you’ll get the Genie HR54 or possibly (unlikely) the HR44. Performance wise, these receivers aren’t very different. However, the HS17 has twice the recording capacity and more tuners. With this you do suffer though as standalone HD and HDDVR receivers are not permitted on the account. With a Genie HR34/HR44/HR54/H44 standalone HD/HDDVR receivers can be activated.
