Is there a way to restore programming on a Genie Remote

During installation, the Genie Remote was programmed to turn the TV off and on without using the TV remote.    Now, the Genie will not turn on the TV without pressing the "TV" button on the TV remote.  Also, when you press the off button on the Genie Remote, it turns off the programming but does not turn off the TV.   Note--we had some heavy thunderstorms that resulted in a power interruption for about 5 hours--seems like this problem started after this event.

Is there a way to restore the programming so the the Genie Remote operates as described after the original installation?

Hey @rwoody0519! Let's get your remote reprogrammed. Thanks for the assist @teetertotter!

Let's troubleshoot your remote.

Check that the remote is set to control your DIRECTV receiver.

  1. Press and hold the ENTER button for three seconds.
  2. A Source menu appears to change your TV’s input.
  3. Select the DIRECTV receiver’s input source. For example, HDMI 1: Satellite Receiver, may be the name of the input. Try different inputs to find the one set up for your TV.

Here's more tips on troubleshooting your remote.

If this doesn't help, let try resetting your receiver.

  1. On most DIRECTV receivers, there is a red button on the side of the receiver or inside the access card door.
  2. Press and hold the red button until the receiver restarts.

Please let us know if this helps.
