Loss of signal on SWiM system.
Hello! I recently (voluntarily) upgraded to a SWiM set up vs the THREE WIRE I had prior. I bought the 5LNB SWiM unit and am using ONE of the cables to run to my NEW SWiM "ODU ONLY" (21V) unit in the basement. There I have it running into a NEW "green label OEM" 8 way splitter. All non-used ports are terminated. I am running one cable to my main unit (HR-24-100) in my living room (works great...NO issues...) and another cable to my bedroom (HR22-100....works fine) and I have another cable running to my 2nd floor to my office where I have a H24/700 unit.
The H24/700 is where I am having the issue! (I have more cables running to different areas in my home but don't have them hooked up in case you are wondering why I bought the 8 way splitter.)
The unit works MOST of the time, but will periodically cut out giving me the error screen stating the unit is having an issue communicating with the dish! It asks me to check cables (I make my own and have QUALITY "Pro Level" RG6U cable running through out with QUALITY compression ends) and/or to reset the SWiM converter. I have double checked my connections and they are fine, and I have reset the SWiM model and it does not help!
Is the "ODU ONLY" SWiM power module the right unit to use in this set up? Since I am running a longer cable to my 2nd floor maybe 70 feet? Under 100 for SURE!!!) do I need a "higher volt" or "higher amperage" unit? I don't think the 8 way splitter is causing the issue....but would the longer cable run require a different SWiM power unit? Or is the "ODU ONLY" unit fine!
I see I can buy 29 volt power supplies, but didn't want to try that in fear it would mess something up?
If anyone has some input I would greatly appreciate it! Don't know where to go next.
Thank you!
-Pete

There is no power on the coaxes except for the one that goes to the dish. Have you swapped the H24 with another box to see if it is the problem?

BTW you no longer need a 5LNB as DTV is no longer using the 119 sat for US programing.

THANK YOU! Good info on the 5LNB....I was not aware...
I will swap out one of my receivers and see if that solves it. Its just odd it "comes and goes"....it works fine for HOURS, then just cuts out for no reason...
Again...thank you for the info and suggestion. I will try to report back.
