Programming Universal Remote Works for Hisense TV...until I click "It worked"

I have:

* RC66RX remote

* Hisense 55U6GR5 TV

When I follow the instructions for programming the DirectTV Univeral Remote using the [Menu] methodology I pick Hisense and then "My Model isn't listed".  When I test Vol+ (and TV input) it works great as soon as the "wait a bit" screen goes away.   Great!  HOWEVER, as soon I select the "It Worked" button ...it stops functioning again.

I am hoping to have the Universal remote control:

* Vol+

* Vol-

* TV input

* TV power

...as it did on my previous Samsung.

What is going wrong here?

NOTE: I have also tried the [mute]+[select] function for every number I can find for Hisense as well and none of them do anything.  This how I had programmed my Samsung years ago.
